Me, Eero Pulkkinen (of Running) and Karri Lehtinen organized a concert in a bomb-shelter, a dark deep tunnel beneath a park in Helsinki. There was no entrance fee, no bar, no bouncers, no lights. Just a sound-system, four electronic artists and a DJ.
There was a lot more people than we expected, which was very awesome. Also awesome was that people were there to really listen to the music, like we wished they would - not to get fucked up and wish for something to dance. We wanted to create more an experience than a party/rave, and I'm glad people really felt that and sunk into the mind-state that we tried to generate.
It was a great risk not to have any security to watch over and to let people bring in their own booze. That could end up good or really bad. But I figure when people feel trusted and like they are given something, they behave more respectful and responsible than they would with limited liberties.
Despite being uncertain if it would work, the event turned out to be super rad and successful in terms of lineup, location and crowd. We are grateful!
Lineup: GRMM$K ABSNT Running RRKK plays Dim Den DJ Erkko
Only an idiot promoter would organise an event and forget to mention it on the company's own website. Whoopsie daisy!
So, we did our third club event last night. Much appreciation to everyone who showed up, bigup! Check the flier below.
A lot of people have been asking when the web store opens. I couldn't be more happier to announce this:
Ghetto Tyylit will be settling into TWO for good. It will become our base, office, hangout, workroom. That means we have finally have a chance to relaunch the mail order shop. A new era on the life of Ghetto Tyylit begins on September. Kippis!
In the meanwhile, check this remix I did for last night. It's of a four-track session in Tapanila in 2011 with Kiltit Ihmiset, RPK, Khid and myself. Tapanila sessions happened in 2010-2012 and were held by me and Tommi Liikka at his place. They were first called the "Tuesday sessions" as we gathered every Tuesday. We hung out, listened to new music, wrote a song and recorded it on a four-track. Sometimes we invited friends along. Altogether we made about 60 songs, non-edited, raw, written and recorded on the one night to capture the moment. This song "Sadeyö" was the second song we made that night, both rain inspired. To this remix I sampled the famous light saber from Star Wars. Fun fact. Original beat was by Khid.
Our workroom in TWO will enable us to have time to finally put all the recordings together and release the tapes.

Ghetto Tyylit artist collective takes over the creative office TWO for workroom and popup-store to create and sell special items and music-related merchandise. We will also re-open the online store during this time.
Robert Keskinen has been photographing the G/T artists - recording sessions, live shows, radio shows, hangouts, poses - for a lot of years. Keskinen is also a member of the Helsinki-based urban photography crew EBBP: emptybottlesblurrypictures.tumblr.com Prints framed, hung & for sale.
Opening on Fri 7.6.2013 17:00 + afterparty @ GHETTO TYYLIT: x's / Kuudes Linja
As some might recall, we had our club opening party a year ago. It featured Equipto, L*Roneus, Z-Man, True Justice & Mike Marshall, and Ameeba. We did a show in Turku and a show in Bassment, Helsinki. But by the end of that month Bassment closed its doors and changed ownership, and we again lacked a venue.
So now, after a year, we finally get this thing running. A new venue opens up today in Helsinki, named Kaiku. Ghetto Tyylit has a night there every other month, organized by Moonlit & Dead-O (Dark Days, Anti-Party). It sort of continues where Anti-Party left off in the early 2000's when Dead-O organized random shows that featured local cats and 'underground' artists from USA (such as Subtitle, Awol One, Existereo, Abstract Rude...).
Now we finally have a chance to bring this whole "underground rap" game thing live in front of an audience. Much gratitude and appreciation goes to Lil Tony! This is certainly a great dream come true.
So if you in Helsinki, come to our first night tomorrow! We bring in Left Leberra & Stash Marina from New Haven, Connecticut. It is also J Riskit's (Kylmä, Ghetto Tyylit) VU∆RI II EP-release party. We'll also have the "Sessiolive" with various local emcees, and Ghetto Tyylit DJ's Dead-O, Moonlit & Ameeba.
